Two South LA gangbangers have been convicted in the 2016 slaying of a US Marine who was home on leave.
The jury took less than two hours to determine that Oscar Aguilar and Esau Rios were guilty of the murder of 19-year-old Lance Cpl. Carlos Segovia Lopez, who was slain while visiting his girlfriend’s house in September of 2016.
Segovia was shot once in his head, he survived in a vegetative state for three days before succumbing to his wounds.
The young Marine, despite being relatively new to the Corps, was beloved by his community, helped the homeless and encouraged at-risk youth to enlist.
According to KTLA, the men who killed the Marine are known gang members, and are scheduled to be sentenced July 8.
In addition to murder and a slew of sentencing enhancements related to criminal records and gang affiliation, Aguilar and Rios have also been convicted of shooting at an occupied motor vehicle. Lastly, Aguilar was found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
