The Marine veteran who claimed that his daughter’s high school forced their 16-year-old to convert to Islam is now facing a new issue. La Plata High School in Maryland has since banned John Wood, the plaintiff in the suit, from attending his daughter’s graduation.

The Marine’s lawyers from the Thomas More Law Center stated they recently filed a motion that would overturn the school’s ban on the father, according to WND.

La Plata High School placed a no-trespass order against the child’s father, Marine veteran John Wood, to stop him from speaking out against the school at the parent meeting. Wood’s attorneys say the ban violates his First Amendment rights.

Wood’s attorneys also claim that the ban is depriving the father of meaningful involvement in the direction of his daughter’s education, saying, “by giving a principal unfettered discretion to ban him – the father of a student – from school grounds without any hearing or opportunity to defend himself because he brought to light the school’s unconstitutional practices.”

The lawsuit claims that Wood’s daughter, who is in 11th grade, allegedly was forced to say ”There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”

Thompson assets that reciting such a statement for non-Muslims, is the equivalent of converting to Islam.

John Wood is a Marine veteran who served eight years in the Marine Corps and was deployed in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

After serving in the Marine Corps, he became a firefighter and responded to the Pentagon during the attack on September 11, 2001.

According to the Daily Mail, Wood’s daughter and her fellow students were required to memorize and recite the Five Pillars of Islam and were subjected to “disparaging teachings about Christianity.”

The President and Chief Counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, Richard Thompson, said, “Such discriminatory treatment of Christianity is an unconstitutional promotion of one religion over another.”

He continued to say, “Parents must be ever vigilant to the Islamic indoctrination of their children under the guise of teaching history and multiculturalism. This is happening in public schools across the country. And they must take action to stop it.”

  1. Where is the school board in all of this? Are they backing up the school’s position? If so, the voters need to rally together and vote those folks out.

  2. My Autistic child is being forced to learn about Islam and I too stand with this father that this is not acceptable. We are Christians and if we wanted to convert then we’d do it without being forced to.
